"Whatever Happened to Frederick G?"

Our Story
Tales of Trial and Triumph

The idea of writing the history of Kirtland through the eyes of the children came to my sister and me after attending a Williams Family Reunion there around 1997. Julie and I worked on many Williams Family projects for the next few years, along with our cousin Velma Williams Skidmore, and we had great plans for many good things, including turning our idea into a play. But alas, the best plans often go awry, and when Julie passed away in 2003, it wasn’t fun for me anymore.
I thought about turning the play into a book from time to time since then, but never acted on it until twenty years later when I was prompted to record the lessons of Dr. Williams’ life, lessons that everyone can learn from if they will. And so I began to put these chapters down in writing. The words came to me easily, as if someone were telling me what to write. I have to believe that I had help from the other side.
In this book, the compelling lessons from the life of Dr. Frederick G. Williams, counselor in the very first First Presidency with the Prophet Joseph Smith and Sidney Rigdon, are told through the eyes of his young son Ezra. These stories will delight and edify, as the reader is taken on a journey through good times and bad, happy days and sad, while learning what life was like in the early days of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
